Retainers for Los Angeles
Retention Phase of Treatment
The retention phase in dentistry is a stage in orthodontic treatment that is aimed at retaining the effects of braces after being removed.
At The Orthospaceship, after we have removed your braces, we move directly to the retention phase where we give you retainers to maintain the new position of the teeth. Following treatment, your teeth may still shift to their previous position if not well guided.
We normally carry out the retention phase for at least six months in order to ensure maximum benefit from the orthodontic treatment. After six months, our orthodontist will instruct on how best to continue with treatment based on how well the teeth have repositioned.

Important information about retainers
The retainers are intended to continue the work previously done by the braces; to hold the teeth in their new position. Retainers come in various different materials and types.
Depending on the state of your dental structure and also your preference, our dentist will help you choose the most suitable dental retainer. The best retainers are those that are custom made and suited for your specific dental structure.
At The Orthospaceship, we provide special customer based orthodontic treatment that is aimed at addressing your specific dental issue.
The retention phase leaves the teeth very sensitive to change since the braces have been removed. This means they can easily move back to previous positions or other unintended ones. We recommend wearing retainers most of the time in order to enjoy the maximum effect of dental treatment.
